World Peace Internet Cafe in Maiduguri, Nigeria

In June, 2020, Humanist Global Charity launched a World Peace Internet Cafe in Maiduguri, a north-eastern Nigerian city that is frequently terrorized by Book Haram. Profits from the cafe are used to assist refugees displaced by BoKo Haram who live in the nearby Al-Amin IDP camp. HGC has assisted these refugees with food, clothing, blankets, tarpaulins, latrines, water barrels, and startup funds like a Noodle Factory.

The Internet cafe is fully equipped with computers, printers, copy machines, binders, passport service, teeshirt printing and other equipment. It is the only business of its kind in the neighborhood. It offers offer free computer learning classes to orphans, street kids, and the poor, and it will have half-price Wednesday for Women services.

One Month Report

10% of profit made will be used to help refugees displaced by Boko Haram Terrorist in Maiduguri.

Free computer classes are given to refugees, poor people and Almajiris. 50%-off is offered to women for services rendered at the Café once in a week every Wednesday.

Our customers are people from the community and neighboring communities. They are college/university students, poor people from the communities, government workers etc.

Students benefiting from the free computer classes are 4 refugees, and 4 poor people from the community. The classes take place twice in a week, each class with 4 students at a time. Below is a table showing the students’ names, age and gender.

An average amount of money we generate daily is about $12 so far and we are gaining more customers. We have $105 in our account.

Two people are employed in the Café one of whom is a refugee. 3 people are currently working in the café including myself.

Benefit of the café to the community in particular

It is a tremendous success to the community for having such a wonderful project. People in the community are really happy for having access to internet, which they don’t have to before and have to go far to access internet when the need arises.
