Humanist Immigration & Asylum Information

Humanist Mutual Aid Network is frequently contacted by atheists & humanists who want to leave their religious nation - to live somewhere else where they won’t be persecuted for their non-belief.

This request is often made by Ex-Muslims, from Afghanistan, Morocco, Nigeria, Yemen, Iraq, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc. Ex-Christians also ask HuMAN for assistance - notably from Ethiopia.

This webpage aims to be a resource center, listing everything HuMAN knows about this topic.

NOTE: To get asylum as a victim of persecution for being an atheist, applicants usually need to back up all their assertions with documentation, i.e., threatening letters, emails, photos. Applicants also need to provide proof that they are who they say they are, and they often need to provide at least 2 references who can confirm their identity and all of their statements.

The following groups can be contacted:

  • Secular Underground Network - provides moral support, job finding, help fleeing a dangerous situation, shelter, and study assistance to atheists, agnostics, secularists, and apostates. Their scope stretches out to all freethinkers or people that are being persecuted because of their beliefs or the way they chose to live their lives. If you need help urgently, fill out this form.
